Why Is Deep Conditioning Important?
NO! Leaving regular conditioner on your hair for an extra 5-10 minutes after washing is not deep conditioning your hair. Regular conditioner replenishes the surface of your hair with moisture after the shampoo has extracted and cleansed your hair of dirt, product build up, and dandruff.
But what about the other layers of your hair and scalp?
A deep conditioning/ steaming process can be done with a store bought/ premade hair mask or a DIY homemade one. These deep conditioners will mainly consist of the proper oils and sealants that will provide better nutrients and rejuvenation to the scalp and hair follicles. By steaming or using some other heating agent (shower cap, steaming cap, or using a blow dryer to enhance heating process), it allows for the pores of our scalp to open up so that the mask/ treatment can penetrate pass the surface and into the deep layers where hair the growth begins.
